After getting up at the crack of dawn, and a nice healthy breakfast at the Waffle House, we continued the trip.

We also discovered the joys of navigating with out maps. However that did not deter our travels. Let me give you all a piece of advice: Texas is boring. It's flat, and there are way too many highway patrol cars.

Another realization came to us: The bad thing about driving 1000 miles to go on vacation is that you have to drive 1000 miles to get home. That's going to suck. (After the fact note: it did suck. And it turned out to be almost a 3,000 mile round trip.)

Did I mention that the scenery was non existent? The one thing we did pass was a water tower claiming the town was the birth place of someone named Garth Books, Brooks, something like that. Name didn't ring a bell...

We arrived in Roswell NM at 4:32 PM MST (5:32 CST). It's a town with a population of 47,000 that reminds me a lot of JC. It's got a main strip where most of the stores/restaurants/etc. are. Here's it's Main St. where in Jeff it's the MO Blvd. Same Wal-Marts, same McDonalds, same Applebees.

The big disappointment was that the hotel we're at (Best Western El Rancho) doesn't have data ports. According to the AAA guide, it did. Letters have been written complaining of this gross misinformation. The Lack of a dataport means no email, and that I can't send this off. ARRRRGGGGGGGG!!!!! We're moving to the Day's Inn tomorrow.
