On Monday and Tuesday we explored Roswell. It was a blast. This town is interesting. It embraces the UFO thing so completely. I mean the street lights down town look are made to look like alien heads!

A lot of the town was of special interest to me because of the TV show Roswell. Donovan didn't understand why I had to take a picture of the road sign for 285 south.

On Monday and Tuesday we explored Roswell. The International UFO Museum, The Robert Goddard Museum (he built rockets in the '30's), and MANY alien themed shops. We even went to the Crash Down Dinner and had lunch. The mouse pad I'm using now is one I got there.

Donovan and I posed in front of the International UFO Museum, next to the resistance is futile T-shirt (That I'm pointing at).

Well, Donovan and I are Librarians. So, we had to go by the Roswell Public Library. They were adding on significantly to the building. Donovan and I were impressed that they had the children's department in a separate building. We approve of the idea. :)

We also took a picture of the floor plan for the new addition. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished project when I go back.

We also saw the old Carnegie Library building for sale. If we only had the money.... *sigh*

Monday afternoon we went down to Carlsbad Caverns.

On the way down we stopped at the library and museum in the town of Carlsbad. Very nice museum. HUGE grounds. Knowing what our maintenance guys go through to keep MRRL's lawn nice, I really felt for the people responsible for this one. We only stayed there for a while and then continued to the caves.

When the temperature outside is 98, it's a nice cool 52 in the caves and it felt WONDERFUL!!! The caves were beautiful. I took a lot of pictures, some of them turned out, but they are a poor substitution for what we saw down there. Then we stuck around for the bats. Every night the thousands of bat come out of the cave at sunset. It was an impressive site. It was also fun listening to some of the tourist there ohh ahh and scream when the bats swooped too close.

The scenery down there was amazing. I could easily fall in love and want to move to this area.

On Tuesday we mainly just goofed around Roswell, took in a few more tourist shops, etc. Mainly took an easy day.
